Oráculo
Na Antiguidade Clássica, um oráculo era uma pessoa ou uma agência considerada como interface de sábios conselhos ou previsões proféticas ou precognição do futuro, inspirada pelos deuses. Como tal, é uma forma de adivinhação. A palavra oráculo vem do verbo latino ōrāre "para falar" e se refere propriamente ao sacerdote ou sacerdotisa proferindo a previsão. Em uso prolongado, o oráculo também pode se referir ao site do oráculo, e aos próprios pronunciamentos oraculares, chamado khrēsmoi em grego. Os oráculos eram considerados portais através dos quais os deuses falavam diretamente às pessoas. Nesse sentido, eles eram diferentes dos videntes que interpretavam sinais enviados pelos deuses através de sinais de pássaros, trilhas de animais e outros métodos variados. Os mais importantes oráculos da antiguidade grega foram Pythia, sacerdotisa para Apollo em Delphi, e o oráculo de Dione e Zeus em Dodona em Epirus. Outros templos de Apolo estavam localizados em Didyma, na costa da Ásia Menor, em Corinth e Bassae, no Peloponeso, e nas ilhas de Delos e Aegina, no Mar Egeu.
