Purveyance

Purveyance é o direito da Coroa de requisitar bens e serviços para uso real, e foi desenvolvido em Inglaterra no final do décimo primeiro ao longo do século XIV. Em teoria, a prerrogativa do rei lhe permitiu coletar bens necessários para o uso doméstico e militar, mas o último foi interrompido em 1362. O principal problema com o sistema era que estava aberto ao abuso de funcionários corruptos, que muitas vezes requisitariam bens e vendê-los com proveito ou usar extorsão e outros meios para obter itens ou dinheiro que não foram transmitidos ou divulgados ao rei. Por conseguinte, os reis ingleses estabeleceram vários estatutos, embora um tanto ineficazes, na tentativa de limitar a corrupção. Quando Edward I e o exército inglês invadiram a Escócia, com pouca produtividade agrícola, eles usaram serviços. O tribunal inglês tinha, de hoje, um direito de compra habitual de alimentos para os pobres. O direito foi chamado prêmio. Edward tomou isso e expandiu-o grosseiramente para tornar a instituição chamada de fornecimento. Os xeróis comprariam comida a um preço fixo nos condados e os vendedores tiveram que vender ao preço do governo.
