Serfdom é o status de camponeses sob feudalismo, especificamente relacionado ao manorialismo. Era uma condição de escravidão que se desenvolveu principalmente durante a Alta Idade Média na Europa e durou em alguns países até meados do século XIX. Os servos formaram a classe social mais baixa da sociedade feudal. O declínio da servidão na Europa Ocidental às vezes foi atribuído à Morte Negra, que atingiu a Europa em 1347, embora o declínio tenha começado antes dessa data. A servidão tornou-se cada vez mais rara na maior parte da Europa Ocidental após o Renascimento, mas, inversamente, cresceu forte na Europa Central e Oriental, onde anteriormente era menos comum.
