Thor - um dos principais deuses da dinastia dos Aces Nórdicos, o equivalente ao Donar do Sul da Alemanha. Deus do trovão e do relâmpago, o deus das forças vitais, o deus da agricultura, como o portador da chuva responsável pelo nascimento, patrocinou também o fogo doméstico e o casamento. Od jego imienia pochodzi nazwa czwartku w języku norweskim, duńskim, szwedzkim, farerskim fińskim, holenderskim, niemieckim i staroangielskim oraz współczesnym angielskim = 'dzień Thora'.
