Tabu

Tabu é uma proibição social muito poderosa definida como sagrada ou intocável em relação a determinadas áreas do comportamento humano ou certas normas. Começou a ser tomado e usado por etnólogos de línguas polinésias. Tem uma estrutura contraditória como nos objetos "sagrados", e tem dois significados opostos. As coisas "sagradas" e "contaminadas" podem ser tabu. Por exemplo, pessoas "poluídas" devem ser separadas de objetos "sagrados". As palavras usadas em muitos dicionários contra "Tabu" também possuem dois significados opostos. A separação dos pacientes e as medidas do resto da sociedade tem sido uma tradição desde os primeiros tempos. Alguns tabus são para mulheres, sexualidade, nascimento ou certos eventos. Comer um galo morto em uma tatuagem, matando um animal doméstico da casa sob a arma do reis, e assim por diante. Alguns tabus são temporários, enquanto alguns são contínuos durante determinados períodos. Algumas áreas cósmicas ou sagradas, lugares onde ninguém se atreve a se aproximar, como alguns túmulos. Hoje, algumas tradições, inconscientemente, vieram de comprimidos.

Tabu, insan davranışlarının belli alanları ya da belli normlarla ilişkili olarak kutsal veya dokunulmaz olarak tanımlanmış oldukça güçlü sosyal yasaklara denir. Etnologlar tarafından Polinezya dillerinden alınıp kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. "Kutsal" nesnelerde olduğu gibi çelişkili bir yapısı vardır, iki karşıt anlamı da taşır. Hem "kutsal" hem "kirlenmiş" şeyler tabu olabilirler. Örneğin "kirlenen" kişiler, nesneler "kutsal" olandan ayrı tutulmalıdır. "Tabu" karşılığında birçok dilde kullanılan sözcükler de iki zıt anlamı birden taşırlar. Hastaları ve ölüleri toplumun geri kalanından ayırmak en eski zamandan beri bir gelenektir. Bazı tabular ise kadınlara, cinselliğe, doğuma veya belli olaylara yöneliktir. Dövüşte ölmüş bir horozu yemek, reisi silah altında olan bir evin erkek hayvanını öldürmek vb. Bazı tabular geçici, belli dönemler içinken bazıları süreklidir. Bazı kozmik ya da kutsal sayılan bölgeler, kimsenin yaklaşmaya cesaret edemediği yerler, bazı mezarlar gibi. Bugün farkında olmadan uygulanan bazı gelenekler de tabulardan kaynaklanmıştır.
