Apelul într-un context politic este o politică diplomatică de a face concesii politice sau materiale unei puteri inamice pentru a evita conflictul. Termenul se aplică cel mai adesea politicii externe a primului ministru britanic Neville Chamberlain față de Germania nazistă între 1937 și 1939. Politicile sale de evitare a războiului cu Germania au făcut obiectul unei dezbateri intense timp de șaptezeci de ani între academicieni, politicieni și diplomați. Evaluările istoricilor au variat de la condamnarea pentru a permite Germaniei lui Adolf Hitler să crească prea puternică, spre judecarea faptului că el nu a avut altă alternativă și a acționat în interesul superior al Marii Britanii.
