Absidă
În arhitectură, absida (greacă ἀψίς (apsis), apoi latină absis: "arc, boltă", uneori scris apsis, plural apsides) este o nișă semicirculară acoperită cu o boltă hemisferică sau semi-cupă, cunoscută și ca Exedra. În mănăstirea creștină bizantină și gotică, catedrală și arhitectură bisericească, termenul este aplicat la terminarea semi-circulară sau poligonală a clădirii principale la capătul liturgic de est (unde este altarul), indiferent de forma acoperișului, care pot fi plane, înclinate, înălțate sau semisferice.
