Boxul este un sport de luptă în care doi oameni se angajează într-un concurs de putere, viteză, reflexe, rezistență și voință, aruncând pumni cu mâini înfundate unul împotriva celuilalt. Boxul amator este atât un sport olimpic, cât și Commonwealth și este un element comun în majoritatea jocurilor internaționale majore - și are propriile sale Campionate Mondiale. Boxul este supravegheat de un arbitru pe o serie de intervale de câte un minut sau trei minute numite runde. Rezultatul este decis atunci când un adversar este considerat incapabil să continue cu un arbitru, este descalificat pentru încălcarea unei reguli, demisionează prin aruncarea unui prosop sau este declarat câștigător sau ratat pe baza cărților de scor a judecătorilor la sfârșitul concursului.
