Chytridiomycota
Chytridiomycota este o divizie a regnului Fungi. Numele este derivat din chytridionul grecesc, adică "oală mică", care descrie structura care conține zoosporele neutilizate. În clasificările mai vechi, chytridii au fost plasați în clasa Phycomycetes sub subdiviziunea Myxomycophyta a regnului Fungi. La un alt moment, au fost plasați în Mastigomycotina ca clasa Chytridiomycetes. De asemenea, într-un sens mai vechi și mai restrâns, termenul "chytrids" se referă doar la acei ciuperci în ordinea Chytridiales. Aici, termenul "chytrid" se va referi numai la membrii Chytridiomycota. Chytrids au fost, de asemenea, incluse printre Protista, dar sunt acum clasificate în mod regulat ca ciuperci. Chytrids sunt una dintre liniile originale divergente fungice și sunt materiale refractare saprobice, degradante cum ar fi chitina și keratina sau care acționează ca paraziți.
