Funcțiile trigonometrice
În matematică, funcțiile trigonometrice sunt funcții ale unui unghi. Ele se referă la unghiurile unui triunghi la lungimile laturilor sale. Funcțiile trigonometrice sunt importante în studiul triunghiurilor și modelarea fenomenelor periodice, printre multe alte aplicații. Cele mai cunoscute funcții trigonometrice sunt sinus, cosinus și tangent. În contextul cercului unitar standard, unde un triunghi este format de o rază care provine de la origine și face un unghi cu axa x, sinusul unghiului dă lungimea componentei y a triunghiului, cosinusul dă lungimea componentei x, iar funcția tangentă dă panta. Definițiile mai precise sunt detaliate mai jos. Funcțiile trigonometrice sunt în mod obișnuit definite ca rapoarte ale două laturi ale unui triunghi drept care conține unghiul și pot fi echivalent definite ca lungimile diferitelor segmente de linie dintr-un cerc unic. Mai multe definiții moderne le exprimă ca serii infinite sau ca soluții ale anumitor ecuații diferențiale, permițându-le extinderea la valori arbitrare pozitive și negative și chiar la numere complexe.
