Half-castă
Half-caste este un termen pentru o categorie de oameni de rasă sau etnie mixte. Este derivat din termenul caste, care provine din castusul latin, adică pure, iar casta portugheză și spaniolă derivată, adică rasa, este considerată acum ofensivă. Jumătate-caste-împreună cu termeni cum ar fi castă, castă și altele - au fost utilizate pe scară largă de către etnografi în coloniile britanice în încercarea de a clasifica nativii. În America Latină, termenul echivalent pentru jumătate de caste era Cholo și Zambo.
