Incorporeal sau necarnatit înseamnă fără corp fizic, prezență sau formă. Este adesea folosit în referire la suflete, spirite, Dumnezeul creștin sau divin. În filozofia antică, orice materie atenuată "subțire", cum ar fi aerul, eterul, focul sau lumina, a fost considerată ca fiind neformală. Grecii antici credeau ca aerul, spre deosebire de pământul solid, să fie incorporeal, în măsura în care este mai puțin rezistent la mișcare; și vecii persani au crezut că focul este incolor în sensul că fiecare suflet a fost spus să fie produs din el. În filosofia modernă, nu se menține neapărat o distincție între corpul necorporal și cel imaterial: un corp este descris ca fiind incorporeal dacă nu este făcut din materie. În problema universală, universalele sunt separabile de orice realizare particulară într-un sens, în timp ce în altele, ele par inerente totuși. Aristotel a oferit un cont hilomorf al abstractizării, în contrast cu lumea formelor lui Platon. Aristotel a folosit termenii greci soma și hyle. În timp ce cititorii moderni au adesea "incorpore" pentru a fi echivalenți cu "nonmaterial", aceasta nu este punctul de vedere al lui Aristotel.
