Parabolă
O pildă este o povestire succintă, didactică, în proză sau verset, care ilustrează una sau mai multe lecții sau principii instructive. Aceasta diferă de o fabulă în faptul că fabulele folosesc animale, plante, obiecte neînsuflețite sau forțe ale naturii ca personaje, în timp ce parabolele au personaje umane. O parabolă este un tip de analogie. Unii cercetători ai Evangheliei canonice și Noul Testament aplică termenul "parabola" numai la pildele lui Isus, deși aceasta nu este o restricție comună a termenului. Părțile precum "Fiul risipitor" sunt esențiale pentru metoda de predare a lui Isus atât în narațiunile canonice, cât și în apocrife.
