Republică
O republică este o formă de guvernare în care puterea stă în popor, iar guvernul este condus de lideri aleși conduși conform legii, mai degrabă decât moșteniți sau numiți. În vremurile moderne, definirea unei republici este, de asemenea, limitată la un guvern care exclude un monarh. În prezent, 135 dintre cele 206 state suverane din lume folosesc cuvântul "republică" ca parte a numelor lor oficiale.
