Semantica este studiul semnificației. Se concentrează pe relația dintre semnificanți, cum ar fi cuvintele, frazele, semnele și simbolurile, și ceea ce ei reprezintă, denotarea lor. Semantica lingvistică este studiul sensului folosit pentru înțelegerea expresiei umane prin intermediul limbajului.
