Simulacru
Un simulacrum, este o reprezentare sau imitație a unei persoane sau a unui lucru. Cuvântul a fost înregistrat pentru prima dată în limba engleză la sfârșitul secolului al XVI-lea, folosit pentru a descrie o reprezentare, cum ar fi o statuie sau o pictură, mai ales a unui zeu. Până la sfârșitul secolului al XIX-lea, a adunat o asociație secundară de inferioritate: o imagine fără substanța sau calitățile originalului. Filosoful Fredric Jameson oferă fotorealismul ca exemplu de simulacrum artistic, unde o pictura este uneori creată prin copierea unei fotografii care este ea însăși o copie a realului.
