Snaffle bit
Un bețel este cel mai obișnuit tip de bit folosit în timpul călătoriilor de cai. Este alcătuită dintr-un muștiuc cu un inel pe fiecare parte și acționează cu o presiune directă. O căprioară care folosește numai un șurubel este adesea numită "căpăstru de mușchi", în special în disciplinele de echitatie englezească. O călăreță care poartă două bucăți, un șurub și un mușchi, sau "bradonul", se numește o căpăstru dublă. Un sforăit nu este neapărat un pic cu o bucată de gură articulată, așa cum se crede deseori. Un pic este un sforăit, deoarece creează presiune directă fără pârghie pe gură. Este un pic fără cot. Prin urmare, un muștiuc unic sau dublu-articulat, deși cele mai obișnuite modele pentru biții de mușchi, nu face un pic mai mult un mușchi. Chiar și o gură mullenă sau o bucată de bar este un mușchi.
