O telenovelă sau pur și simplu un săpun este o dramă de serie, la televizor sau radio, care prezintă linii de poveste legate de viețile mai multor personaje. Povestirile din aceste serii se concentrează în mod obișnuit pe relațiile emoționale până la punctul de melodrama. Denumirea "săpun" se datorează faptului că mulți dintre sponsorii și producătorii emisiunilor seriale dramatice originale "la radio" erau producătorii de săpunuri.
