Xeta este un grup indigen, până recent considerat dispărut, care își are originea în statul brazilian Paraná. În trecut, s-au numit, de asemenea, botocudos din cauza podoabei de buze folosită de bărbați după ritualul de inițiere. Restul de opt dintre masacrul în deceniile de 1950-1960 din regiunea Serra dos Dourados a dat naștere la aproximativ 25 de familii, toate conectate prin rudenie, împrăștiate pe tot statele din Parana, Santa Catarina și São Paulo. Xeta au fost ultimul grup etnic din statul Paraná, pentru a-și expropria teritoriile. În anii 1940, fronturile colonizării au devastat pădurea nativă pentru plantațiile de cafea, le-au masacrat drastic. La sfarsitul anilor 1960, a acuzat oficial de știri „moartea“ lui, în vederea regularizării regiunii Umuarama și Campo Mourao, teritoriul tradițional al Xetá, vândute de stat la noi coloniști sub promisiunea unui teren fertil. Argumentul fertilității solului nu este susținut astăzi, deoarece Gresia Caiuá combinată cu degradarea mediului provoacă eroziune, sărăcirea solului, printre alți factori agravanți.

No passado, eram também chamados botocudos por conta do adorno labial utilizado pelos homens após o ritual de iniciação. Os oito remanescentes do massacre ocorrido nas décadas de 1950/60 na região da Serra dos Dourados deram origem a aproximadamente 25 famílias, todos ligados por parentesco, dispersos pelos estados do Paraná, Santa Catarina e São Paulo. Os xetá foram a última etnia do estado do Paraná a ter seus territórios expropriados. Na década de 1940, frentes de colonização devastaram a mata nativa para a plantação de café, massacrando-os drasticamente. No final dos anos 1960, notícias oficiais acusavam seu "extermínio", com vistas à regularização fundiária da região de Umuarama e Campo Mourão, território tradicional dos Xetá, vendido pelo Estado aos novos colonos sob a promessa de uma terra fértil. O argumento da fertilidade do solo hoje não se sustenta, já que o Arenito Caiuá aliado à degradação ambiental causa a erosão, o empobrecimento do solo, entre outros agravantes.
