Orakel
In der klassischen Antike war ein Orakel eine Person oder eine Agentur, die als Schnittstelle zu weisenden Ratschlägen oder prophetischen Vorhersagen oder Vorhersage der Zukunft, inspiriert von den Göttern. Als solches ist es eine Form der Wahrsagerei. Das Wort Orakel kommt aus dem lateinischen Verb ōrāre "zu sprechen" und bezieht sich auf den Priester oder die Priesterin, die die Vorhersage aussagt. Im erweiterten Gebrauch kann sich das Orakel auch auf die Stelle des Orakels und auf die orakelalen Äußerungen selbst beziehen, die in Griechisch khrēsmoi genannt werden. Orakel wurden als Portale gedacht, durch die die Götter direkt zu den Menschen sprachen. In diesem Sinne waren sie anders als Seher, die Zeichen, die von den Göttern durch Vogelzeichen, Tier Eingeweide und andere verschiedene Methoden gesendet wurden, interpretierten. Die bedeutendsten Orakel der griechischen Antike waren Pythia, Priesterin für Apollo bei Delphi und das Orakel von Dione und Zeus in Dodona in Epirus. Andere Tempel von Apollo befanden sich in Didyma an der Küste Kleinasiens, in Korinth und Bassae auf dem Peloponnes und auf den Inseln Delos und Ägina in der Ägäis.
