Rummy, Rommee, American Rummy is a card game for two to six people. In Austria the game is spread under the original American name Rummy; The French-seeming name Rommé, which is common in Germany, derives from it, but in France the game is called Rami. Rommé is less a single game than a collective name for a family of combinations and legends with cards that have emerged from the Mexican Conquian. Rommé is played according to the variant with one or two packages of French cards to 52 sheets, the two packages are added depending on the variant up to three jokers each. In Austria and Germany today, mainly German Rummy is played with twice 52 sheets and six jokers. The most popular in the US and UK is Gin Rummy, a variation for two people. The Rummy Family also includes Canasta, which is played in many variations, the most famous variety is Samba-Canasta.

Rommé, Rommee, amerikanisch Rummy ist ein Kartenspiel für zwei bis sechs Personen. In Österreich ist das Spiel unter dem originalen amerikanischen Namen Rummy verbreitet; der französisch scheinende Name Rommé, der in Deutschland gebräuchlich ist, leitet sich davon ab, in Frankreich heißt das Spiel jedoch Rami. Rommé ist weniger ein einzelnes Spiel als vielmehr eine Sammelbezeichnung für eine Familie von Kombinations- und Legespielen mit Karten, die aus dem mexikanischen Conquian hervorgegangen sind. Rommé wird je nach Variante mit einem oder mit zwei Paketen französischer Karten zu 52 Blatt gespielt, den beiden Paketen werden – je nach Variante – jeweils bis zu drei Joker hinzugefügt. In Österreich und Deutschland wird heute vorwiegend Deutsches Rommé mit zweimal 52 Blatt und sechs Jokern gespielt. Die in den USA und Großbritannien beliebteste Spielart ist Gin Rummy, eine Variante für zwei Personen. Zur Rummy-Familie zählt des Weiteren Canasta, das seinerseits in vielen Variationen gespielt wird, die bekannteste Abart ist Samba-Canasta.
