Biological energy comes from the sun. Light energy harvested by photosynthesis in chloroplasts and phototropic bacteria becomes stored in carbohydrates and fats. This stored energy can be released by oxidative metabolism in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and used as fuel for other biological processes.

WHAT DOES ADENOSINE MEAN IN ENGLISH?

adenosine

Adenosine

Adenosine is a purine nucleoside comprising a molecule of adenine attached to a ribose sugar molecule moiety via a β-N9-glycosidic bond. Adenosine plays an important role in biochemical processes, such as energy transfer — as adenosine triphosphate and adenosine diphosphate — as well as in signal transduction as cyclic adenosine monophosphate. It is also an inhibitory neurotransmitter, believed to play a role in promoting sleep and suppressing arousal. Adenosine also plays a role in regulation of blood flow to various organs through vasodilation.

Definition of adenosine in the English dictionary

The definition of adenosine in the dictionary is a nucleoside formed by the condensation of adenine and ribose. It is present in all living cells in a combined form, as in ribonucleic acids. Formula: C10H13N5O4.
