WHAT DOES FUNÍCULO MEAN IN SPANISH?
Funiculus
In botany, the funiculus is a small cord that attaches the ovum to the placenta. It can have several dimensions and is constituted by a vascular bundle that crosses it and reaches the base of the nucela or chalaza. The point of insertion of the funiculus in the egg is called a thread. There are three main types of ovules, according to the position of the funiculus, which are: orthotropic or straight, anthropic or inverted, and camytotrope or curved. When the micropyle or wire and the chalaza are fixed in the extension of the same line, the ovum is orthropope. In the campilotrope ovum the axis of the nucella is curved so that the line connecting the micropyle to the chalaza approaches a perpendicular to the funiculus. Anatropus is the ovum in which the funiculus folds in a great curvature under the chalaza and is attached to the ovule itself in a great extent. The line of contact of the funiculus with the ovum is called raphe. In this type of ovule the micropyle is turned down, being close to the thread.
Definition of funículo in the Spanish dictionary
The first definition of funicula in the dictionary of the real academy of the Spanish language is union structure in the form of a cord, like the nerve cords of the spinal cord. Another meaning of funicula in the dictionary is an adornment typical of Romanesque architecture, consisting of a bull or a twisted rope in the shape of a cable or rope. Funiculum is also the cord that connects the ova to the placenta.
