Kick

Patada

In violence, martial arts and sports, a kick is a blow to the foot, knee or leg. As an attack it is used in close combat. The kicks are usually slower than the punches but stronger than these. Kicks are a fundamental part of many martial arts, such as Kung Fu, Karate, Tai-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Tangsudo, Lima Lama or Taekwondo; While other arts do not use any kick, as is the case of Judo or Boxing. Other martial arts of competition can use kicks although limiting them to attacks to the legs and to the lower part of the body of the opposite. There are a large number of kicks, and many have characteristic names for each one. Often the same movement has different names in different martial arts, this is especially noticeable when making comparisons between oriental and western arts.
