WHAT DOES DATU MEAN IN MALAY?
Datu
Datu or datto is the title for the head of a clan or king in the Philippines before it was colonized by Spain. This title is still used by their descendants in the Philippines. The word datu can be referenced comes from the manuscript Batu Batu Ensemble manuscript in Palembang, where in the 11th row there is a word of the god that is interpreted the same as the palace or palace which is the same meaning as the king's palace, so the rhythm is the same as the datu region. So the datu means the same as the King. Furthermore, this datu changed the narrative into "grandfather", a title still used in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. The myth of the arrival of 10 datu from Borneo is celebrated every year at Binirayan Celebration on Panay Island, which was known as "Aninipay".
