Raja

Raja

The king is the ruler of Kshatriya's descendants. This title has a long history in the subcontinent of India and Southeast Asia, as evidenced by Rigveda. The term King comes from the word Sanskrit rājan-, as well as the word seals with Latin rēx, Gaul rīx, and so forth. In essence, this word is a vrddhi derivative of the proto-proto-pronunciation of the proto * h₃reǵ- which means "to make, to command, or to rule." The Hindi variants used for the same royal rank in India include Rana, Rao, Raol, Rawal, and Rawat. The feminine form commonly used for King's wife is Rani, a word derived from Sanskrit, rājīī. The title of the King, Thakore, and many abusive, plural, and derivative uses of one of the two words, has been used in India and around it, mostly by the Hindu government and some governments of Buddhism and Sikhism, while the Muslim government uses Nawab or Sultan.
