Court of Justice
Court of law - royal court in the First Republic. It was built in the mid 16th century. The chancellor or his substitute chancellor was presiding, the assessors were the courtesans and the officials of the royal chancellery. Its jurisdiction was determined by the creation of the Crown Court in 1578. He ruled in cases where the defendant was a city governed by the Magdeburg or Chełmno law, or the townspeople from such a town; as well as in matters concerning royal goods and income. In view of the weakness of the judiciary of the former Republic, the court of justice was the only expert to be the most competent and impartial. Appeals from his sentences were initially directed to the relational court. In time, appeals from Asesoria were banned.
