Exlibris (sign)

Ekslibris - the proprietor of a given copy, the most decorative book, made in graphic design, with the name of the owner of the collection, or the name of the institution. A typical exlibris is a small, printed card stuck to the inner side of the cover. In a simpler form it may be, for example, a stamp. Designing exlibris is one of the areas of artistic graphics. Many of the famous graphic designers, engravers and typographers were involved in the creation. Collecting exlibris is one of the areas of collectivity. There are also exhibitions, sometimes even dedicated exclusively to this subject. The use of exlibris is regarded as a sign of respect and care for books as well as the high cultural needs of their owners. Indirectly, the exlibris also motivates the similar attention of the person to whom the book is borrowed. Ekslibris is also intended to protect the book from theft or loss. Exlibris artistically made in noble graphic technique raises the artistic value of the book, giving testimony to the bibliophile's relationship to it.
