Progeria

Progeria - Genetically conditioned syndrome characterized by accelerated aging. HGPS is caused by a de novo point mutation in a chromosome 1 LMNA encoding a laminate A. This protein stabilizes the membrane surrounding the nucleus, and its mutations cause disturbances in the structure and function of the cell nucleus. The average life expectancy of people with progeria is 13 years. Researchers are particularly interested in progeria, as research into the disease may reveal information about the normal aging process. In a broader sense, progeria is called any syndrome associated with premature aging. In contrast to these disease units, Hutchinson and Gilford's progeny are not related to the malfunction of DNA repair mechanisms. Among these diseases are: ▪ Werner syndrome ▪ Bloom syndrome ▪ Cockayne syndrome ▪ Xeroderma pigmentosum ▪ Down syndrome .... Białko to stabilizuje błonę otaczającą jądro komórkowe, a jego mutacje powodują zaburzenia w strukturze i funkcjach jądra komórkowego. Średnia długość życia osób z progerią wynosi 13 lat. Naukowcy szczególnie interesują się progerią, gdyż badania nad tą chorobą mogą ujawnić informacje dotyczące normalnego procesu starzenia. W szerszym znaczeniu progerią nazywa się każdy zespół związany z przedwczesnym starzeniem się organizmu. W przeciwieństwie do tych jednostek chorobowych, progeria Hutchinsona i Gilforda nie jest związana z nieprawidłowym funkcjonowaniem mechanizmów naprawy DNA.
