WHAT DOES TAPIOCA MEAN IN PORTUGUESE?

Tapioca

Tapioca, also known as beiju, is the name of a typically Brazilian delicacy, originally from the Northeast of the country, of indigenous origin, made with starch extracted from cassava, also known as tapioca gum, tapioca, dried gum, sprinkles or sprinkles candy. When it is spread on a hot plate or skillet, it coagulates and turns into a type of pancake or dry crêpe, shaped like a half-moon. The filling varies, but the more traditional is made with coconut and cheese curd. It is also common to find the varieties known as Beiju de Lenço, Beiju de Massa and others, made in ovens of flour houses of rural communities at certain times of the year; as well as other variations. The name tapioca is derived from the word tipi'óka "clot", the name for this starch in Tupi; and can refer both to the product obtained from the starch and to the plate itself made from it.
