Presuposición
En la rama de la lingüística conocida como pragmática, una presuposición es una suposición implícita sobre el mundo o la creencia de fondo relativa a una expresión cuya verdad se da por sentada en el discurso. Ejemplos de presuposiciones incluyen: ▪ Jane ya no escribe ficción. ▪ Presunción: Jane escribió una vez ficción. ▪ ¿Ha dejado de comer carne? Presuposición: una vez había comido carne. ▪ ¿Ha hablado con Hans? ▪ Presupuestos: Hans existe. Una presuposición debe ser mutuamente conocida o asumida por el hablante y el destinatario para que el enunciado sea considerado apropiado en su contexto. En general, seguirá siendo un supuesto necesario si el enunciado se coloca en la forma de una aserción, negación o pregunta, y puede estar asociado con un elemento léxico o rasgo gramatical específico en el enunciado. Crucialmente, la negación de una expresión no cambia sus presuposiciones: quiero hacerlo de nuevo y no quiero hacerlo de nuevo, ambos presuponen que el sujeto lo ha hecho ya una o más veces; Mi esposa está embarazada y Mi esposa no está embarazada, ambos presuponen que el sujeto tiene una esposa.
