Incardination et excardination
Dans l'Église catholique romaine, l'incardination se réfère à la situation d'un membre du clergé placé sous la juridiction d'un évêque particulier ou d'un autre supérieur ecclésiastique. Son antonyme, excardination, indique qu'un membre du clergé a été libéré d'une juridiction et est transféré à un autre. Les deux termes sont dérivés du cardo latin, d'où dérive également le mot cardinal, d'où les verbes latins incontournent et excontent. Le but de l'incardination est de s'assurer qu'aucun clerc, qu'il soit diacre ou prêtre, n'est «indépendant», sans un supérieur ecclésiastique clair auquel il est responsable.
