Cycle menstruel
Le cycle menstruel est le cycle des changements naturels qui se produit dans l'utérus et l'ovaire comme une partie essentielle de la reproduction sexuelle possible. Son temps est régi par des cycles biologiques endogènes. Le cycle menstruel est essentiel pour la production d'oeufs et pour la préparation de l'utérus pour la grossesse. Le cycle ne se produit que chez les femelles fertiles et les autres primates. Chez les femelles humaines, le cycle menstruel se produit à plusieurs reprises entre l'âge de la ménarche, lorsque le cyclisme commence, jusqu'à la ménopause, lorsqu'il se termine. Chez l'homme, la durée d'un cycle menstruel varie considérablement chez les femmes, avec 28 jours désignés comme longueur moyenne. Chaque cycle peut être divisé en trois phases en fonction des événements de l'ovaire ou de l'utérus. Le cycle ovarien se compose de la phase folliculaire, de l'ovulation et de la phase lutéale tandis que le cycle utérin est divisé en menstruations, phase proliférative et phase sécrétoire. Les deux cycles sont contrôlés par le système endocrinien et les changements hormonaux normaux qui se produisent peuvent être gênés par l'utilisation de la contraception hormonale pour empêcher la reproduction.
