La Normandie est une région géographique de la France correspondant à l'ancien duché de Normandie. Le territoire continental couvre 30 627 km² et forme la partie prépondérante de la Normandie et environ 5% du territoire de la France. Il est divisé à des fins administratives en deux régions: Basse Normandie et Haute-Normandie. La population de la Normandie est d'environ 3,45 millions d'habitants. La population continentale de 3,26 millions représente 5,5% de la population de la France. Les îles anglo-normandes sont historiquement une partie de la Normandie, couvrent 194 km² et comprennent deux bailliages: Guernesey et Jersey, qui sont des dépendances de la Couronne britannique. La Haute-Normandie se compose des départements français de la Seine-Maritime et de l'Eure et de la Basse Normandie des départements d'Orne, du Calvados et de la Manche. La première province de Normandie comprenait aujourd'hui la Haute-Basse-Normandie actuelle, ainsi que les petites régions qui font maintenant partie des départements d'Eure-et-Loir, de Mayenne et de Sarthe. Le nom provient du règlement du territoire par les Vikings du 9ème siècle et confirmé par traité au 10ème siècle.
