Préfixe
Un préfixe est un lien qui est placé avant la tige d'un mot. L'ajouter au début d'un mot le change en un autre mot. Par exemple, lorsque le préfixe n'est pas ajouté au mot heureux, il crée le mot malheureux. Particulièrement dans l'étude des langues, un préfixe s'appelle aussi un préformat, car il modifie la forme des mots auxquels il est apposé. Les préfixes, comme d'autres affixes, peuvent être soit inflexionnels, modifiant la catégorie syntaxique, soit dérivant, en changeant soit la catégorie lexicale, soit la signification sémantique. En anglais, il n'y a pas de préfixes d'inflexion. Les préfixes, comme tous les autres affixes, sont des morphèmes liés. Le préfixe du mot est lui-même composé de la correction de la tige, et le préfixe pré, tous deux dérivés des racines latines.
