Shatt al-Arab
Shatt al-Arab est une rivière en Asie du Sud-Ouest d'environ 200 km de long, formée par la confluence de l'Euphrate et du Tigre dans la ville d'al-Qurnah dans le gouvernorat de Bassora, dans le sud de l'Irak. L'extrémité sud de la rivière constitue la frontière entre l'Irak et l'Iran jusqu'à l'embouchure de la rivière alors qu'elle se déverse dans le golfe Persique. Il varie en largeur d'environ 232 mètres à Basra à 800 mètres à sa bouche. On pense que la voie d'eau s'est formée relativement récemment en temps géologique, le Tigre et l'Euphrate se sont évacués à l'origine dans le golfe Persique par une voie plus loin vers l'ouest.
