Chatouillement
Les chatouilles sont l'acte de toucher une partie du corps afin de provoquer des mouvements involontaires de témérité et / ou des rires. Le mot "tickle" a évolué à partir du moyen anglais tikelen, peut-être fréquentant le ticken, pour toucher à la légère. L'idiome chatouillé rose signifie être content ou ravi. En 1897, les psychologues G. Stanley Hall et Arthur Allin ont décrit un «chatouillement» comme deux types de phénomènes différents. Un type est causé par des mouvements très légers à travers la peau. Ce type de chatouillement, appelé knismesis, ne génère généralement pas de rire et s'accompagne parfois d'une sensation de démangeaisons. Un autre type de chatouille est la chatte "lourde" induite par le rire, produite en appliquant à plusieurs reprises des pressions sur les zones "chatouillis" et est connue sous le nom de gargalesis. De telles sensations peuvent être agréables ou passionnantes, mais sont parfois considérées comme très désagréables, en particulier dans le cas de chatouilles implacables. La question de savoir pourquoi une personne ne pouvait pas chatouiller était élevée par le philosophe grec Aristote. Francis Bacon et Charles Darwin ont cru que le rire humoristique exige un état d'esprit «léger».
