La phase ou la phase lunaire de la lune est la forme de la partie illuminée (éclairée par le soleil) de la Lune telle que vue par un observateur, habituellement sur Terre. Les phases lunaires changent cycliquement alors que la Lune orbite la Terre, selon les positions relatives changeantes de la Terre, de la Lune et du Soleil. La lune et la Terre sont fermement enfermées, et donc la même surface lunaire est toujours face à la Terre. Ce visage est diversement éclairé par le soleil en fonction de la position de la lune dans son orbite. Ergo, la partie de cet hémisphère qui est visible pour un observateur sur terre peut varier d'environ 100% (pleine lune) à 0% (nouvelle lune).
