Negus

Négus - le titre historique et politique des dirigeants de l'Ethiopie pendant la monarchie. Un des plus anciens titres éthiopiens féodaux, parce qu'il était déjà utilisé dans V-I en p.n.e. Depuis l'époque d'Axoum, il a été repris plus tard par les dirigeants chrétiens d'Éthiopie et a été utilisé pour les temps modernes. Négus, le plus souvent seulement formellement, était soumis à l'empereur portant le titre negusa negast, c'est-à-dire «roi des rois», étant en réalité un souverain indépendant. Pendant la période de forte puissance impériale en Éthiopie, le pouvoir de négus diminuait et il augmentait pendant les périodes d'affaiblissement. Plus tard, l'empereur pourrait accorder le titre negus aux dirigeants de Szeua, Gonder, Tigra, et Godjam. Le dernier couronnement des nègres a eu lieu en 1928, lorsque le titre a été adopté par Tafari Makonnen, connu sous le nom de Haile Selassie.

Negus, najczęściej tylko formalnie, podlegał cesarzowi noszącemu tytuł negusa negast, tj. "król królów", będąc faktycznie samodzielnym władcą. W okresie silnej władzy cesarskiej w Etiopii malała władza negusa, rosła zaś w okresach jej osłabienia. W późniejszym okresie cesarz mógł przyznawać tytuł negusa władcom prowincji Szeua, Gonder, Tigra oraz Godżam. Ostatnia koronacja na negusa odbyła się w roku 1928, kiedy to tytuł ten przybrał ras Tafari Makonnen, znany pod imieniem Haile Selassie.
