Arquivo
Um arquivo é um acúmulo de registros históricos, ou o local físico onde estão localizados. Os arquivos contêm documentos de origem primária acumulados ao longo da vida de um indivíduo ou organização, e são mantidos para mostrar a função dessa pessoa ou organização. Os arquivistas e historiadores profissionais geralmente entendem os arquivos como registros que foram natural e necessariamente gerados como produto de atividades legais, comerciais, administrativas ou sociais regulares. Eles foram metafóricamente definidos como "as secreções de um organismo" e se distinguem de documentos conscientemente escritos ou criados para comunicar uma mensagem específica à posteridade.
