Em um sentido um tanto mais místico, o contentamento pode ser entendido como um estado inato antes de qualquer julgamento intelectual sobre as situações da vida ter entrado na imagem. Talvez seja por isso que as crianças são geralmente felizes até que seus poderes intelectuais - como a capacidade de julgar o que é bom do mal e ser treinados para manter os conceitos - começam a se formar e, em seguida, seus estresses mentais e emocionais começam a surgir.
