Leipzig (/ laɪptsɪɡ /; Pronúncia alemã: (escute)) é uma cidade no estado federal da Saxônia, na Alemanha. Tem cerca de 530 000 habitantes e é o coração da região metropolitana da Alemanha Central. Leipzig está localizado a cerca de 150 quilômetros (93 milhas) ao sul de Berlim, na confluência dos rios White Elster, Pleisse e Parthe, no extremo sul da planície do norte da Alemanha. Leipzig tem sido uma cidade comercial, uma vez que, pelo menos, o tempo do Sacro Império Romano, sentado no cruzamento da Via Regia e da Via Imperii, duas importantes rotas comerciais medievais.
