Adjunct (gramatică)
În lingvistică, un adjuvant este o parte opțională sau structurală dispensabilă a unei propoziții, unei clauze sau a unei fraze care, dacă este îndepărtată sau aruncată, nu va afecta altfel restul propoziției. Exemplu: În John ia ajutat pe Bill în Central Park, fraza din Central Park este un adjuvant. O definiție mai detaliată a adjunctului evidențiază atributul său ca formă, cuvânt sau expresie care se modifică, depinzând de o altă formă, cuvânt sau frază, fiind un element al structurii clauzelor cu funcții adverbiale. Un adjuvant nu este un argument și un argument nu este un adjuvant. Distincția argument-adjunct este centrală în majoritatea teoriilor de sintaxă și semantică. Terminologia utilizată pentru a desemna argumentele și adjuvanții poate varia în funcție de teoria la îndemână.
