Şantaj

Șantajul este un act, adesea o crimă, care implică amenințări nejustificate de a câștiga sau de a provoca pierderi altor persoane, dacă nu este îndeplinită o cerere. Poate fi definită drept constrângere care implică amenințări de vătămare corporală, amenințare de urmărire penală sau amenințări în scopul de a lua banii sau proprietatea persoanei. Este numele unei infracțiuni legale în Statele Unite ale Americii, Anglia și Țara Galilor, Irlanda de Nord și Victoria, Australia și a fost folosit ca un mod convenabil de a se referi la alte infracțiuni, dar nu a fost un termen de artă în limba engleză înainte de 1968. Aceasta însemna, inițial, plățile acordate de coloniștii din județele Angliei, care se învecinează cu Scoția, șefilor de șerpi și a celor din Scoția, în schimbul protecției împotriva hoților scoțieni și a marauderilor în Anglia.
