Mănăstire
O mănăstire este fie o comunitate de preoți, frați / surori religioase sau călugărițe, fie clădirea folosită de comunitate, în special în Biserica Romano-Catolică și în Comunitatea Anglicană. Termenii "mănăstire" sau "mănăstire" se referă aproape invariabil la o comunitate de femei în uzul modern al limbii engleze, în timp ce "mănăstirea", "prioria" sau "mănăstirea" este folosită pentru bărbați; dar în uz istoric ele sunt adesea interschimbabile. Din punct de vedere tehnic, o "mănăstire" sau "mănăstire" este o comunitate de monahi, în timp ce o "mănăstire" este o comunitate de mendicanți și o "canonrie" comună de canoane regulate.
