Didacticismul este o filozofie care accentuează calitățile instructive și informative în literatură și alte tipuri de artă. Termenul își are originea în cuvântul grecesc din vechime, διδακτικός, "legat de educație și predare", și a însemnat învățarea într-o manieră fascinantă și intrigantă. Arta didactică a fost menită atât să distreze, cât și să instruiască. Jocurile didactice, de exemplu, au fost destinate să transmită publicului o temă morală sau alt adevăr bogat. Un exemplu de scriere didactică este un eseu al lui Alexander Pope despre critică, care oferă o serie de sfaturi despre critici și critici. Un exemplu de didactism în muzică este cântecul laudă queant laudă, care a fost folosit de Guido de Arezzo pentru a preda silabe solfege. Prima definiție a didacticului în dicționar este menită să instruiască, esp excesiv. O altă definiție a didacticului este instructivă morală; îmbunătățirea. Didactica conține, de asemenea, un mesaj politic sau moral la care sunt subordonate considerentele estetice.
