Downburst
O scădere a temperaturii este un sistem eolian puternic la nivelul solului care emană dintr-o singură sursă, suflat într-o linie dreaptă în toate direcțiile de la acea sursă. Adesea, producând vânturi dăunătoare, poate fi confundat cu o tornadă, dar este de fapt destul de diferită: într-o tornadă, vânturile cu viteză mare circulă printr-un punct central, în mișcare spre interior și în sus, în timp ce într-o cădere de vânt, vânturile sunt îndreptate în jos și apoi spre exterior punct de debarcare. Scăderea zăpezii este creată de o zonă de aer rece răcit cu ploaie care, după ce ajunge la sol, se răspândește în toate direcțiile, generând vânturi puternice. Căderile de căldură uscate sunt asociate cu furtuni cu foarte puțină ploaie, în timp ce ploaia umedă este cauzată de furtuni cu cantități mari de precipitații. Microburștii și macroburștii sunt coborâșuri la scară foarte mică și mai mare. O altă varietate, izbucnirea căldurii, este creată de curenți verticali pe partea din spate a vechilor granițe de ieșire și a liniilor de tăiere în care lipsesc precipitațiile. Căderile de căldură generează temperaturi semnificativ mai ridicate datorită lipsei de aer răcit de ploaie în formarea lor.
