Fuchsia / fjuːʃə / este un gen de plante înfloritoare care constă în mare parte din arbuști sau copaci mici. Primul, Fuchsia triphylla, a fost descoperit pe insula Caraibe Hispaniola în jurul anului 1696-1697 de călugărul și botanistul francez, Charles Plumier, în timpul celei de-a treia expediții la Antilele Mari. El a numit noul gen după renumitul botanist german Leonhart Fuchs.
