CE ÎNSEAMNĂ MAGGOT ÎN ENGLEZĂ?
Vierme
O vierme este larva unei muște; este aplicată în special la larvele mustelor Brachyceran, cum ar fi muștele de pește, muștele de brânză și muștele, mai degrabă decât larvele nematocerilor, cum ar fi țânțarii și muștele de macarale. "Maggot" nu este un termen tehnic și nu ar trebui luat ca atare; în multe manuale standard de entomologie nu apare deloc în index. În multe texte non-tehnice termenul este folosit pentru larve de insecte în general. Alte surse și-au creat propriile definiții; de exemplu: "... Termenul se aplică unei grupe atunci când toate urmele de membre au dispărut ..." și "... Aplicate la larvele fără picioare ale Dipterelor". Larvele de zbor de tip vierme sunt de mare importanță în ecologie și medicină; printre alte roluri, diferite specii sunt proeminente în reciclarea mizeriei și gunoiului, atacarea culturilor și alimentelor, răspândirea infecțiilor microbiene și provocarea miasiei.
