Osificare
Ossification este procesul de stabilire a noului material osos de către celulele numite osteoblaste. Este sinonim cu formarea țesutului osos. Există două procese care duc la formarea unui țesut osos normal: osteficarea intramembranoasă este fixarea directă a osului în țesutul conjunctiv primitiv, în timp ce osificarea endochondrală implică cartilajul ca precursor.
